Clear Tail Light Boxes?

So I bought some clear corners and clear bumper lights along with projector housings to clean up the look of my XJ.. I went on ebay and got all of them for a reasonable price, so I went and checked to see how much "euro" tail lights were and HOLY **** **** ****** ****! There's no way I'd throw $300 on something that stupid let alone simple. So I remembered seeing metal tail light boxes some people on here have fabbed up and I thought to myself... It's a box, it's easy to make so why not do it yourself? Im planning on making them out of some semi thick plexi and I'd throw LEDs in. I was wondering if anyone has already done this? If you have made a pair; post it! If you want to make some comments on it or something feel free aswell

I would go with Lexan... plexi likes to shatter, BUT Lexan scratches easy... hmmm

Lexan can be formed with heat and may be a better option, try it either way and see what we all think... Good Luck!

this should help with the LED part ;) http://www.clubfrontier.org/forums/f...l-light-55800/

I was thinking about lexan too but yeah the scratching would look bad after a while so i'll probably just stick with my plexi and keep it kinda thick so it'll be slightly stronger than the average tail light. I dont really plan on taking my XJ through Moab grade rock climbs so I'm not really worried about my tail lights getting smashed. If I had a little more money in my rig, i'd definitely consider the lexan material though!
