What do you all think? I built all 4 of these with less than $10 materials. At the time of photo they were matte black but I have since covered them with Rhino Liner coating.

So it depends on your local hardware store I found these on sale for $2.45. You are looking for vinyl fence rails. I used a small circular saw to cut them just through one layer to ultimately come out with two pieces that each had a 5" flat section and a 1.5" 90 degree lip. There are two ribs inside and to cut those I used a sawzall to trim it flush. I then measured and sized them to my fender and notched the 1" lip where I needed them to bend around the corners of the fenders. For the notching and the edge trimming I used a cutting disc on a dremel (because I dont have a good jigsaw setup). I mounted one end to the fender then used a heat gun to shape them as I bolted them in using sheet metal screws.

I was actually thinking about building up a jig and possibly selling them as a sub $200 fender flare kit for the XJ. When it was all said and done I had quite a bit of time building and mounting them but a lot of that was in figuring out how to shape them etc. A second set built off of the design of my first set would take no time at all.
