its ok but i think it would get caught on a tree limb or something. how do you have it grounded.

the mount goes threw the front bumper witch would be the ground. and if my antenna hits a tree branch well i might as well back up and try again because my windshield isn't as flexible.

if you have a roof rack you mount it that way as well. my whole rack is grounded and i run a 103" stainless steel whip with no problems, you hear it when it hits trees and stuff and makes an RC car look bahahaha

I have tried everthing and have run into a problem of some sort with all mounts until I found lil wil. I use to run a 4' fire stick and got good reception but my lil will had noticably better reception and now i dont worry about hitting it on anything. look into it http://www.bellscb.com/products/ante...Little_Wil.htm

you can find them on ebay for 25-30 bucks plus shipping

Magnetic base took the guess work out of all of it. Best money I have spent on my jeep mods.

I did something like this, only i used the 3 bolts holding in the tail light and added strenth across the top.

Here is what I went with. The stainless steel fender mount with a 102" stainless steel whip. Very important to run a good quality stiff spring. Especially if you run a whip or a fire stick because it will rip the screws right out of the fender. I’ve been running this setup for about 6ix years other than an occasional tightening of the screws, have had no problems. However, the best location for a ground plane antenna is dead center of the vehicle (for best all around reception).

interior mount..passenger side under glove box and doesn't interfere with glove box opening

rear mount is just drilled into the body panel backed by a small piece of sheet metal for sturdiness. Wire comes thru small hole cut in the rubberstopper/grommet under the tailight housing
