Bumper steel question?
Hi all,
I am planning out my front bumper construction and came across 2 x4 .120 tube steel for $45. Link to steel specs http://www.fastenal.com/web/products...endingMachine=
Here is my question, would this steel be strong enough if I weld them to 1/4 frame brackets?
I would weld cleavis mounts and a 2in receiver for recovery points.
Whats your feeling?

I used 2x6 3/16" wall. 2x4 will leave the bottom of the front crossmember exposed. .120" is probably strong enough for a bumper as long as you mount your D rings to the 1/4" plate mounts, or through the tubing not just to it. But welding a 3/4" thick D ring tab to .120 wall would be a bit annoying.
