Belly pan and anti-wrap bar build...
I started mocking up a belly pan and anti-wrap bar this past weekend for the BW rig and figured I'd share. The pan is 3/16" plate and also serves as a mount for the AW-bar. Turned out pretty slick. The pan will get additional bracing and trimming for the DS as well before going out for powder.
I'll have some more pics of the anti-wrap bar here soon as well. :) http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...d/IMG_1924.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...d/IMG_1922.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...d/IMG_1923.jpg |
The belly look awesome!

I love this. Reminds me of a stock YJ pan but thicker. Any plans on putting this in inventory after tests? I'd make the mount optional for people who don't want one and see if you can make some flap for the transfercase so you don't have to drop it to change the fluid.

Thanks guys!

Dimple dies should be here next week. Otherwise the pan is done. :)

That looks really nice. It's cool that you have planned for rearward axle path. You are a smart fella.

Looks stout! belly pan and anti wrap bar are on my short list as well.

Curious. Where are you getting them from - they'll do 3/16"?
Excellent work on the pan weldment. I appreciate your clean natured builds. I should hopefully have more updates later this week. The bottom of the pan is getting a 3/16" peice of UHMW as well :) |

I got them off of amazon actually. I'm not sure who makes them, but yeah up to 3/16" . I should hopefully have more updates later this week. The bottom of the pan is getting a 3/16" peice of UHMW as well :)
I'm excited to see your next update! Thanks again for the info. |
Hopefully this link works...
The pan is done and will be going in for powder next week! http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...428_171418.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...8_174742_1.jpg Used the scotchman for the dimpling... http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...428_182634.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...428_182707.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...430_182744.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...430_182757.jpg Also made some progress on the bar. I've added another gusset further up on the bar to prevent a weak spot at the box'd portion (not pictured). This way at least 3/4 of the 1.75" - 3/8" tube is reinforced. Ideally I would have simply boxed in the entire bar, but that would have required substantial floor mods. Something I'm trying to avoid with this build. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...430_182417.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...430_182443.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...428_195153.jpg More updates soon! |
Belly pan and anti-wrap bar build...
this is looking good man! curious though, the anti wrap bar is awesome and I love the way it looks but with some more effort you could have linked the rear, and not worry about axle wrap and get rid of leaves at the same time. why not? especially with those sweet shock towers you got; you could fit some coilovers nicely.

Honestly though, I like having the leafs out back and the challenge that it brings to balance the chassis. Simple as that really. Sure I could have linked it, but that falls under conventional wisdom. :p Flex really isn't an issue... http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...818_144027.jpg |
