Another Half Door Project - ZJ
Just sharing some photos of my project. I picked up a set of spare doors for 60 bux and began hacking away. I will skip the details but share some information that may help others.
I set the cut to just above my leg when sitting in the seat thinking that is the lowest I could go while still providing some protection.
on my first try for a latch o thought I could repurpose the outside handle button and install it on top just above the latch. i spent a ton of time on it, cutting it, drilling, and some welding. it was ugly. I removed it and reused the inside handle and made that work.
I attempted to fabricate the hinges so I could easily swap doors but after cutting one hinge it was not very stable so I welded it back togather.
when welding i was burning holes in the metal at the lowest setting so i increased the wire speed by a lot and that seemed to help. it did leave behind extra weld that cost me some time in grinding but the end result was better.
I opened the bottom up so I could use it as excess storage.
