Default Fishing Platform

I would like to build a platform on my jeep to shark fish from. I have seen this done on several suburbans but never a cherokee. This is a pic of a rack on a suburban.

What kind of support would I need for a rack like this to hold a couple of people.

thats awesome! not sure if the cherokees roof could hold that much (although i havent stood on it before, it could be beef) but i would think you would have to at least reinforce it through the bumper.......how big a shark you talkin?
cherokees dont weigh that much.....it may pull you over if you're lifted like 8 inches with stock tires, but who does that

Hey i have seen that guy on the Platform. I live in Corpus Christi too. A platform on a cherokee would be cool and im sure it would support it.

rain gutter mounts, 3 or 4 on each side holding up a strong enough platform made from 1/8 wall square tubing should suffice. as long as there's enough bracing.

my warrior products roof rack has 2 gutter mounts on each side, and i have had 300 lbs plus ontop without even flexing the rack. but driving on the trail and on the road disconnected sure did have extra body roll tho.

it wouldn't be all that difficult to design what you need, as long as you have the tools to build it.

the cherokee would be plenty strong enough.

You have your friend grab the shark by the tail and drag it on the beach.

that looks pretty awesome, tons of guys surf fish up here but i've never seen anything like that lol as for the cherokee's roof being strong enough, i've stood on mine a few times without a roof rack or anything and i've had a few people sitting up there before the roof flexes a lot and you usually have to punch it back up from the inside.but with a roof rack i think your ready to catch some fish

the roof of a cherokee is strong enough, just need to utilize 3-5 gutter mounts PER SIDE. I run 2 mounts and i have put 500lbs in my roof rack with no issues.

I built my roof rack large enough to fit an air mattress-2 people can sleep in it with no issues.

Do like a type of exo cage. Add a few extra tubes across the top. Then when jaws pulls you over you are still good to go.

for a 10' fish i would use the winch. screw the falling off the roof part...

haha. the roof would be plenty strong with the suggested amount of gutter mounts and a rack of your choosing.
Good luck!

Thanks alot guys. I'm not sure when I'll get to start this project considering I'm poor, but I'll be sure to post up when I do.
