I broke the final drive belt on my 08 Harley tonight. Not the first belt I've broken but this narrow one is the most costly. OEM runs about $250.00. Found a Goodyear replacement for about half that. The real ***** is how much has to come apart to install it.

I ran into that on a polaris drive belt, the prices were not as bad as yours but I got a gates belt for half of the OEM. The OEM belts are made by somebody (dayco, gates, goodyear etc.) They contract a company like that and get their name put on it. Its the damn name and the package it comes in that makes it expensive.

Been thinking about going to a chain anyway. A bit pricey at first but cheaper and tougher in the long run.
I think I passed a stone through this belt causing the failure.
