xj cherokee leaking fuel tank and how to add more fuel.

Gday I have just got a Jeep xj Cherokee and on the first fill it leaked out about 1/4 of a tank of fuel and at $ 1.70 Australian it's way too ex to waste !can you help please regards Gus .
