What's going on with my coils?
So I bought myself a 79 F150.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...547393676b.jpg Anyway I discovered this https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...0f30075244.jpg Driver https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...a4a0749ac6.jpg Passenger Does anyone have any idea what is wedged into my coils or why they might be there? I'm wanting to straighten out those coils. I think I might have to replace the lower mount as they appear angled out. Anyone have any ideas? |
Those are a super cheap and dumbass coil spring lift/stiffener. Remove those ASAP.

Nice truck! Got me one too. My coils are bending out the same way. Apparently, the coil pads bending sideways is a problem on these old dentsides. And yes, definitely remove those cheap coil spacer things wedged in there. They'll just make it worse

Thats a beautiful truck, paints a lot better than on mine.
I can't get those spacers out. They are metal not rubber. I lifted the front end up letting the coils stretch out and they were still wedged in. Not sure how they even managed to get them in there. Ill just get new coils. Level it out anyway. |
They twist out with a 1/2 ratchet (saw the opening once I got the mud out), They are now out and my coils are almost completely straight, the passenger side still had some bowing left in it but it's close enough that I'm not even gonna bother.
Why do they even sell these wedges? :furious: |
