What is the first thing you do when you buy a new car
Hey guys, Im about to "trade" my 87 cherokee (hopefully) for a 77 blazer. I intend on buying another cherokee (around 2000's year) and keep it "mostly" stock for DD use.
My question is, what do you guys do when you buy a new car?
change the oil, spark plugs, gaskets, fluids, air filter etc?
Im sure a couple inexperienced people like myself are wondering the same thing!
thanks CF guys!

Parts: Spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, O2 sensor(s)
Also check brakes, lights
Fluids: Oil, transmission, transfer case, both differentials
Also check brake, coolant and power steering levels
Also clean up the engine and body grounds with sandpaper to make them shiny.

I change the oil+trans fluid. I check gear oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and replace any that looks old. Also check plugs/cap/rotor and replace if they look old. I also check to see if all exterior lights work.

Visually inspect all fluids, on the small block in that 77 blazer, I'd go with delo 400 oil and a quart of Lucas. They love it. inspect brakes front and rear, usually I'll just roll around under something on a creeper and look at stuff. See if anything looks out of place/ damaged.
Oh and check ignition timing. Stupid easy on a small block. Good luck!

I would give it a full tune up and change all the fluids from oil to gear oil everything. With that blazer first mod would be a steering box brace http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/steeringkit.htm
