wandering cherokee
I own a 2004 Jeep cherokee 2,4L petrol. It drifts across the road as I accelerate and decelerate. I have been told that is due to worn suspention bushes. Is this true?

First off I think you must have a Grand Cherokee as the Cherokee was last produced in 2001. If it is aligned properly it should not wander. it needs more toe-in IMO.

I'm thinking it's either worn suspension or steering components...When you accel./decel. that's an active, constantly changing load, where as staying steady on the throttle doesn't affect the car as much. With the changing load, you make the front end work more as it cycles through the changing attitude of the car. Regardless, it's something front end...

Nope, a cherokee across the waters is a Liberty here. They use coils and control arms in the rear. If your control arm bushings are worn you will have a wandering feeling. LCA's and UCA's are cheap and easy to change. Also if you move this to the Liberty Forum you'll get more intel from experts on your jeep. Here, a cherokee is a much different animal from a Libby.

I think he's got the Liberty for us here in the U.S.A. Jeep released the liberty under the name Cherokee in the UK. As for the drifting issue, I'd guess an alignment issue or loose component. I would be surprised if a 2004 he has already worn out the bushings? But if Blue says it I'd tend to believe him! HTH
