Volvo Wagons?
My buddy just bought a 2001 Volvo v70 wagon. Anyone have any experiences with these or volvos in general? Any problems to look for, or specific maintenance items to pay attention to? I am going to help him do a tune up on it- plugs/wires, oil, air filter, trans fluid, radiator flush. Anything else worth doing? Anything particular to volvos I should pay attention? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Only thing I can tell you is it is a safe car.We rolled one on I95 with no seat belts and everyone walked away with no more then scratches.
Got home filled the fluids and used it for a field car for A few years. They jump hills and took a beating.

Which version did he get?
Volvos are always very solid vehicles and you can always find stellar deals on them.
The Turbo models are fun and easy/quick/cheap to modify for a lot more power.
They have a good AWD system and there is one model floating around that is actually quiet capable off road.
The platform it is built on is still used today by Volvo and Ford, just revised of coarse for the newer models.

my buddy is a volvo master tech and swears by them. He just sold my girlfriend his 92 240 wagon. It's an awesome car in great shape and she paid what we would pay for an old beat-*** XJ. It's got 260k on it and has no problems whatsoever. Considering the main reason I bought my cherokee was for space, if I had the money back I would definitely consider getting a 240 wagon and spending the leftover cash on the suspension and wheels and have plenty left over.
