The Trouser Stain Bronco

Well, the lady wanted an off road toy/project, and something big. So i found this bronco, which she named the s**t stain. The color gives it away. Its a 92 XLT, E4OD, 5.0 with 172,000 miles. Its got a 4" lift, nearly wore out 35x12.5x15 first gen KM2's, god awe full ugly 15x10 rims, and some body rust:001_unsure:. After some haggling over body rust, steering gear leaks and the inconvenience of having to load it on a trailer, we took it home for $1,300 and a clean title.

Now for the Fun.....
The PO had let someone test drive it, and they must have test drove it pretty hard because the blew up the Cardan Joint on the rear shaft. U-joint is toast, the H Collar is cracked, both flanges have chunks missing where the cups blew out and the splines are effed. So on the drive home i ordered a brand new complete drive shaft for jeffs bronco graveyard.

It will need a new steering gear, as this one has a substantial leak.
It has a beyond ugly bull bar that nearly falls off when you step on it
All the power features work though!
Has a 3" exhaust and headers

Since it was her bronco, i made her drive down in her diesel and drag it back. (i hate driving a chevy) To get it to fit on the trailer, i had to jack it up and take off the wheel spacers and put the tires back on, and it still just barely squeezed through the fender wells of the trailer. The rear end was to fat to fit up in the wells, so it was tail happy for the 160 miles home. I was extremely happy that the rear window still rolled up and down, as the FSB Broncos were known for having finicky rear windows. Ide like to eventually find a Eddie Bauer and swap the interior.

Future plans included:
Smaller lift block in the rear to bring the ass down (eventually a full spring lift)
Quick Disco's for the sway bar
Replace Steering gear
reprogram computer for the 35's
find a limited slip rear 9" to replace the 8.8.
I think i'll keep the D44 TTB in the front, and maybe build the D44 TTB pre-runner style(new pivot bushings, extended radius arms, long travel shocks, 1 ton steering, and the full turn warn hubs as opposed to the 1/2 turn hubs.

Finally got to drive it. Its got a real bad misfire and lack of power. So a tune-up is in order. Took it to the car wash and cleaned off 4 years of mud, and cleaned out the engine bay. Tonight is on par to order plugs, cap, wires and rotor as well as fuel filter and all fluids and filters.

Did a complete Tune up and took it on the mountain. Have to admit, sitting on the tailgate with a cup of coffee watching her the change spark plugs was pretty entertaining :D When it is cold out, it stalls going in to drive; so my first instinct is a dropped tranny filter....common in the Early E4OD's without filter legs. So next weekend, ill drop the pan and give her a good cleaning and install a new filter and clips. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...4aad376259.jpg

I had an 87 that I sorely miss.

welp, in changing the tranny fluid, about 7 of the bolts swere stripped out, so now iget to drill and helicoil a bunch of pan bolts and hope they hold!

Ended up helicoiling. The transmission pan bolts today. Whoever did the fluid last over torqued the bolts and stripped out 10 of them. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...1433969121.jpg
