Toyota FJ cruiser ???
not sure this is in the right section, if not please move.
ok i was just wondering, i have heard a lot about the new toyota fj. is it all its cracked up to be. just lookin at it, in stock form or with add ons, it reminds me alot of a hummer, not bad lookin, but can it really perform offroad? this thing looks like it would really be top heavy when lifted. now i know the places i put my stock xj in thing past week end, this thing would not have a chance. i think it is just another atempt to sell a high dollar 4x4 to the folks that never really need it, sorry if anyone has one don't mean anything bad. what are yalls thoughts?

Based on all the 4x4 magazine reviews, this is a good off road rig. It's capable. Reminds me of the h2/h3 and also xterra due to IFS but at least it's setup some for off road. windows are the biggest downside.

They are capable offroad, especially if built correctly. I don't know too much about the old ones, but the new ones have a few big drawbacks.
1) They are expensive (30k). May as well buy a Rubicon for that cash
2) They are VERY heavy for their size
3) They don't have much aftermarket support compared to other vehicles

I've seen a few new ones in the bush, and they do quite well in stock form, and I'd imagine that they would give any of the new Jeep SUV's a run for their money...somebody tell me again why all the new Jeeps coming out are IFS???
Can't wait till the JK comes out IFS....

I had a few FJ-40 Cruiser's in my younger years.. wish i had kept one as clean ones are going for good money nowadays.
A friends GF has a new FJ, as mentioned before major blind spots, heavy etc. But it is a very capable and well built vehicle mechanically. I cant get over how damn ugly it is though.

I have have been lucky enough to drive one on numerous occasions and blind spots are the a killer but off road handeling and performance are nice
once again I am not pushing anything but below are some links to some videos we have made
http://www.roughcountry.com/video_gallery.html
here is a link to about 4 or 5 videos of fj cruisers

2) With mods it is pretty heavy
3) They are fairly new so of course there is not too many aftermarket stuff, but there are a lot guys with some high speed mods.
They are very good offroad vehicles. Just as good as your jeeps.
