Get a car along with the XJ. You can find 80s Z31 Nissan 300ZX for fairly cheap and they can be built fast! My buddy has one way boosted on E85 pushing nearly 500HP at the wheels, and another friend has a stock turbo 88 that is fast as hell. Also Toyota MR2s are a reasonably cheap fun car, a few of my friends have them.

What's wrong with Neon's?? Being a former owner of a 2nd Gen Neon they are pretty decent cars. Lot's of fun once you do some suspension mods. My biggest gripe was no room in the car. The SRT-4 is quick out of the box, but buying a used one means it was probably flogged to within an inch of it's life so beware. Outboard oil cooling for the turbo is a must as well as using full synthetic oil. If you can't find a decent SRT-4, then get a 2nd Gen (00-01) which are more mod friendly. The 5spd sticks are quick off the line, but getting your hands on a set of transfer gears off an early 80's ATX K-Car will give your ATX a 3.55 final drive which evens things up but that's for only the 00-01 years since 02 and later went to the new 4spd ATX with different T-Gears. I was never a fan of the 1st Gen Neons..

get a 1st gen lexus sc300. They're rear wheel drive with the 2jz motor, and they actually have a tougher bottom end than the supra 2jz. Run a single turbo and pnp ecu, boom, 500hp car.
