Default Should I buy?

My neighbor decided she would ask me if I would be interested in buying her 2005 Jeep Liberty 4x4 because she no longer needs it. It's a 2.8 CRD Diesel 4x4 it has 189k miles and absolutely zero rust. It has a trail rated badge and runs and drives great. I just don't know enough about the liberty to know what I'm getting into. Whats the reliability like and is it easy to work on? I'm not familiar with diesel motors either She was saying it got upwards of 35mpg and never below 24mpg which I would love. Do you think its worth 2 grand? I have 3 other jeeps already lol all Cherokees But only 1 is alive.

Fwiw I've seen 3 of these on my local CL. None ran. One said it was for sure a blown head gasket/cracked head. Others unknown. All 6 speed manuals.

I wanted to buy one but after some googling it seems they have some reliability issues but like anything its also got a handful of people that say they've had no problems.

These only were offered in a five speed automatic.

Really? Its been a while I'm probably confusing them with the other Libby's I seen. Well at least the trans part anyhow. Definitely remember them all being in a non-running condition.

Too bad they didn't have a manual option.

Yeah, the gas Liberty could be had with a six speed manual but the CRD was two pedal only. A serious shame as that combo would have been freaking awesome. Even still, it wouldn't have sold any better then it did which was pretty badly I think.
