School Bus XJ Hauler
So anyone ever done this, or know anyone that has? I am thinking of doing this some time but want to get some feed back. I met a guy at the Blessing of the Jeeps that had done this and I really liked it. but lost his contact info...
So, thoughts?

I like them...
What would you do with the cabin of the bus? Make it like an RV or load it up like a mobile shop?
Also putting a collapsible awning (like RVs) on the side (or both) would be good as well. Not only to chill under but to fix the rig under.

It would be pretty sweet to build the inside with some bunks on one side and storage for parts and tools on the other. I would try to get a diesel bus instead of gas (SUCKY fuel mileage).

The only possible problem I can see, is all the loaded weight is on the rear axle and back. I would think the only 4 rows of windows would be sufficient and would allow the weight to be more evenly distributed on the commercial cab bus. The cabover the unimog is on, could also use 1 less set of windows. I do not like the idea of that thing back there basically teetering on the very end of the frame. If the tilt bed were about 2' longer to the front....
I was thinking about this also. I was thinking about fold down bunks, taking the seat behind the driver and turning it around removing the 2nd and installing a table there. Leave the front seat on the pass side and gut the rest to install what ever you want.

We are thinking of making the cab part like an RV and big enough for a queen size bed. Would make sleep a lot nicer. But I like the idea of the shop. The one I saw at the blessing had put storage compartments under the flat bed for parts which I think is what I'm going to do.
Plus, if it has a bed and living space, you can get it insured as an RV which would keep the insurance down.
So I want to take the cab all the way up as far as I can. Was thinking that if I could I would like enough space to throw a quad or two on as well, but that is not a priority.

If it has rails on the inside of it like my highschool one did (meant to transport handicapped) you could rig something up to chain a bunk to it...I like the idea of a shop...but it'd need bunks too....so if your wheeling you got a sleeping quarters...and a place to fix your jeep if it breaks down!
