Sami axle Straightening

I had a Sami come in the shop lately. Someone jumped it and bent the drivers side tube.

Can you see the bend? It was about 1" out of center.

Using a cut off wheel I made two slices to make the bending easier. I used a straight dowel for my measurements. Using a jack and some ratchet straps I got the axle were I wanted with in +\- 1/8 inch. Tacked it up and rechecked. Note the tube was not cut off. There was 1-2" on the bottom holding it together.

Yes I did split a weakened tube so I added some much needed bracing!

After a new water pump the Sami was back into action! Up next is a 70 year old jeep!

Good luck with the jeep. My grandpa and dad had one they used in Wisconsin for plowing and pulling up stumps. Original engine blew, and they ended up putting an old VW engine in:lol:. Still pulling up stumps to this day as far as I know. Hopefully yours fairs a little better haha.
