R56 MCS - Slow moving build for a quick little car

BOKEN LINKS FIXED THANKS 5-SPEED!!

I've always been interested in the Mini cooper, but honestly never gave them consideration due to assumed affordability and practicality. I had my first ride in one a few years back when we visited my mother in law (she was leasing a 2012 Clubman S at the time).

Fast forward quite a while and we've since relocated to FL from WA and I need to get out from under a truck that is wearing out and I'm longing for something a bit more fun to drive to work.

After some searching, haggling, and crunching numbers...I found this.

(Day I drove it home from the dealership)

http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/a...0.jpg~original

It's got leather, heated seats (I check to see if they're working every few months since you know...FL), panoramic roof, sport package, Mini connect (pretty useless unless you are an apple fanboy), Harmon Kardon audio (probably the best factory stereo I've heard in a small car), all the nifty lighting effects...and I'm sure I'm missing something.

It's also got some upgrades installed - Bilstien adjustable coilovers, K&N Typhoon intake, Brola catback exhaust, some kind of camber plates, Alta rear lower arms, turbo heat shield, slotted/drilled rotors with upgraded pads, and a Moroso oil/air separator.

I've owned this car for about year and it's been a blast. I'd like to keep modifying it but in the end parts are not cheap for these cars and just keeping the thing going can make a dent in the pocket book...so it stays in the same condition I bought it in. With it's current mods it's a blast to drive and handles like a freakin dream. It could use a downpipe and a slightly more aggressive tune to really give it that push into scary fun but even now it pulls pretty darn good for a little 1.6L turbo :-). If I had one complaint it would be the ride quality with the coilovers...man they're stiff, even when adjusted to the softest setting.

For refference here is a standard model S with no suspension mods

And here is my car with adjustable coilovers sitting at about the center of the height adjustment (about 1.5 inches lower)

Sorry couldnt wait for you to fix the links....

My buddy had one and it was a blast to drive! I like it.

Son of a *****, what did you do to fix that?

5-Speed 09-21-2017 12:11 AM

Its pretty easy actually. You add ~original to the end of the pictures link address. Hit the quote button on the post with the images that work and you will see what I mean. Its only a temporary fix. Stupid PB will catch on and shut it down again.

Ah ha, well I'll go about my original plan of transferring everything over to Imgur for hosting then.

5-Speed 09-21-2017 01:03 PM

Yes good idea! But for now, you can do the trick if needed.

Test post for image hosting

Tried quoting you to get the results but all it did was show me that text above, no "requote" of my post in the quote of your post (confused yet...lol)

Thanks for bringing up this fix though!

I'm sure they'll do something like that, seeing how their whole site has just turned into one HUGE pop up ad!

Thanks to you I sure did

I'll have to go back through my old threads and start checking them out. Strangely enough now PhotoBucket's "download album" feature conveniently stopped working so I'll need to make time to move all of my photos from one service to another.
