Quick help for a friend
Any immediate assistance with this issue will be greatly appreciated.
My friend has a 1996 2-door Ford Explorer with a 4.0 V-6 and automatic tranny.
Long story short, Shenandoah Valley got some snow, and he went to work in 4 wheel drive. He just texted me and told me his truck was stuck in 4 low. He also told me he had driven a distance of about 1-1.5 miles in 4-low on moderately scraped roads at 10 mph, and he said the tach was always at 3,000 rpm.
His model of 4wd employs a turn ****, much like those found in the 2002 Ford Escapes.
Anyone have any advice on this issue? Both mine and my friend's thanks in advance!
(Btw, I took this opportunity to brag a little bit about my 91 XJ and all its glory, having triumphed the same snow with no issues )

Turn the **** to 2wd and put the transmission in reverse, back up a litttle and the transfercase and hubs should release.
