Look what....
I just got home from Maumelle (North Little Rock).
Look what followed the truck home.
73' CJ5, 258 six cylinder, 3 speed, 3.73's.
Its a long way from perfect but I didn't pay the perfect price either.
Got new shocks, springs, and gas tank with it.
Got a little cancer to deal with here and there but not to terrible.
Engine sounded good, no smoke, does need some carb work though.
Got to fix the brakes too, maybe just needs fluid and bleeding.

That guy is doing well camouflaging in to the new vehicle! Hehe!
Nice new project! Hopefully you were able to get it for a good price. What are some ideas and plans?
V/r,
awsgrayrd.

FAIL:
This is not a to long too wide too wrongler.
Dad has a 52 ******. I didn't want a cream puff, I wanted something I could beat on. The engine sounded great but the carb is acting up.
Its got a little cancer under it. I need to go look at a second one that today that would be good for parts, but it was just to rough to fix.

Just a few shots sitting in the "Man Cave"
I got it running as good as can be expected with a POS Carter BBD on it.
its going to be replaced with a tried and true Motorcraft 2150.
I also pulled the gas tank, and took out 10 years of mud wasps/dirt dobbers, then I used the engine hoist to lift the back 5 feet off the ground so I could was under it. Someone actually undercoated the thing at one time. To bad they missed some spots that rusted out. Nothing I can't fix.
I'm going to get the lights working on the back before I put the new gas tank back in. The PO bought one for it but never installed it and I could see why it was a PITA to get it out.
I also removed the last piece of **** on it. The ***** tank.
That isn't going to be needed here. Its going to get Antique tags so it won't ever have to be licensed again.

Well got it out of my shop. Sorta.
I made one trip down the road, a test drive right.
Well it drove sorta okay, ride was okay but hadn't changed the springs yet.
Then things got interesting.
I tried to stop, it had brakes when I left the shop for sure.
It would not stop, I pumped the brakes 3 times and the rear wheels
locked up and I slid to a stop.
So I turned around and gently made my mile back to the house.
Seems it blew two wheel cylinders, one front and one rear.
So a call to the parts store and I got new brakes coming.
11x2 brake shoes front and rear, new wheel cylinders, new springs,
its going to woah when it leaves the shop again.
So for the count, replaced the Carter BBD with a Motorcraft 2150, so it
would run long enough to drive, changed the gas tank, fixed all the
rear lights, I even bled the brakes once.
So the CJ is coming along.

I love projects like this! Especially when your okay to beat it up to, like you mentioned. Not bad though, and good thing that all you messed up. Glad you were able to get it back to the man cave without any disasters!
Best of luck!
V/r,
awsgrayrd.
