Not sure how "small" of a tractor your referring too, but I've done tons of plowing with our Massey Ferguson F100 farm tractor. Not a huge tractor, I'd call it mid-size. Our plow mounts on the back and it does really great. If there's a lot of ice I run into problems steering but generally I never have a problem doing driveways.
As far as plowing with a lawnmower so long as you don't get a massive amount of heavy wet snow in front of you it should do fine. I'd recommend some chains for the rear tires though.

Smallest JD that I ever plowed with was a 42 B series.
Problem with small tractors is the power to weight ratio. Lawn tractors often need wheel weights and chains to get the traction needed to push the snow. At least that is what my uncle had to do with his Simplicity's.
If you dont have any of those, take small bites and plow often.

I have a small sub-compact Kubota (BX2230 ) with weighted rear tires and regularly use it to maintain 1/2 mile+ of hilly gravel driveway. It works wonders in the snow! My XJ couldn't begin to get out in last years snow w/o this tractor....I've used the tractor to "unstick" the Jeep on several occasions. I have a front end loader, rear blade, and box blade (for driveway maintenance).

That is a nice rider you have. I would think that it has the power to handle plowing without much problem.
I would make sure you have extra weight in the front, and perhaps tire chains.

I was just over at the other side of the state at a friends cabin and i drove their smaller tractor, International 454. pretty old but it sucked plowing in the snow if it didnt have chains on it (no 4wd). Im sure if it had 4wd and some tires wroth a crap it would do pretty good. it did fine in snow that wasnt 4 feet deep though.

I agree but they are pricy. My Dad paid $2800 for his on his 425. I just bought a used one for mine, I lost the gears in my old one, and new gears were $270.
A blower is so much better, fast and doesn't rip up the lawn. I make paths out to the storage shed, mailbox & generator too.
Here's a link to the JD attachment for yours:

We use a Sears S/T16 with a blower on it to take care of our driveway. Does good with the chains and weights on. Had a plow on it before we got the blower. Did a pretty good job, blower is the better way to go though. If you can afford it that is.
