Default John Deere PTO

Hey y'all. I got a 2009 John Deere 5085M. Basically, the PTO works when it wants to. I was pulling a bush hog the other day and it sputtered on and off a few times. I think its an electrical problem with the PTO switch, because everything else I checked out seems right. I cant figure it out.. Any Ideas??

do you have one of the "pull up and twist" type *****? maybe the lock up isn't catching. I've got a 6000 series, but its never done that.
