Jeep 3.7 & 3.8 motors
What's the difference between the 3.7 v6 in the jeep liberty and grand cherokee and the 3.8 v6 in the wrangler.

The 3.7 is SOHC while the 3.8 is a pushrod, they are just totally different engine designs as well. The 3.7 isnt known for being a great engine, the valvetrain sucks, my friends liberty needed the whole top end rebuilt at 100kmi and that wasn't even uncommon. From what i've heard about the 3.8, its ok, no major issues and it puts out a tiny bit more torque than the 3.7, but its not a replacement for the good old 4.0.

Dang, I figured it was a few tweaks not a different motor. Glad I didn't order the supercharger kit for the 3.8 and try to adapt it like I planned. Thanks.
