I sold my mint CRX and bought a motorcycle
I had a 1991 Honda CRX in mint/mint-like condition that I sold for a pretty chunk of change with the intention to pay off my personal loan I had taken out to buy my XJ (which now serves as SS status since I went a little overboard with the TJ lift build)
Anyhow, I haven't rode a bike on the road ever, but have had various dirt bikes off and on throughout the years, so I have some riding experience. Being 5' 11" and 225#, I knew a 250cc wasn't going to be a good starter bike for me. I had ridden my mom's 250 last summer (yeah, my mom rides, ) and it felt like I was sitting on a minibike.
As luck would have it, my wife (who is dead set against me having a bike) told me about a bike for sale locally. It has an R title due to the previous owner hitting a deer, but it was professionally repaired and all bent parts replaced with new. I took a friend with me who has been riding since he was preteen and has an inspection shop for bikes. He took the bike out for a ride and came back and further inspected it for any flaws, leaks, or other damage.
So with a thumbs up from my friend, I made a counter offer to the asking price and finally we settled on a very fair price of $1650 and I was new proud new owner of a 1999 Suzuki VZ800 Boulevard. Now an 800 seemed liek a LOT of bike for a first road bike, but once i sat on it, I was convinced this was a good purchase. The seat cupped my butt like the hands of a Taiwanese hooker giving me a... err wait, I got side tracked.
Anyhow, it fit me just right, not too tall, not too short, and it didn't feel very heavy at all underneath me. I can't wait to get my permit and go out riding.
So without further delay, here's a pic of a bike just like it (I have different saddle bags). I am waiting on a replacement title to arrive for the previous owner's lost title before I take possession of the bike.
