Picking up a new toy this spring. old jeep DJ mail vehicle. looks a bit like this except tan. i have a thread in the off topic section with pictures of the actual one.


Anyways i am planning on dropping a 350 chevy in it with ford 8.8 rear end and so on and so forth and i have never really built a hot rod before. So I wanna see how many guys on this forum are DIY hotrodders so i know who to ask questions haha. Also how would i go about lowering something thats leafs all around so she sits low? im extending the frame about 5-6 feet in the back and making a small truck bed and moving the 8.8 axle to the far back. i want to do a bag setup but also have no experiance with this which is why i want to do this. Any links to helpful videos would be nice. This is a project i have all summer to get it DRIVING not finished just driving. Remember i wont be starting until this spring. here is a picture of what i think im planning.

 

What i wouldnt give to get my hands on an old Mail jeep like that.

 

Look at junkyards man. i hear there is a ton of em in colorado, some with the old audi 4 cylinders.
