HELP! Jeep Comanche
I found a 1990 jeep comanche at a used lot in the city. The guys claims it has 66xxx originial miles on it wants $850 down and (begining to think I heard him wrong) $1200 total. I grabbed the VIN from the sticker but i failed to notice it had 18 digits. The hood and top of the cab had been repainted and looked like there was some bubbling on the cab. Other then that it looked solid. He even sprayed the tires to make them all shiny. Any info/comments/insight on these trucks would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I am not the most familiar with comanches but I think they are awesome. I heard they develop rust in the rear wheel wells as well. But as stated if its the 6 cyl. its a good deal. If it also has the AX15 and 4x4 that would be my dream manche.

check out the floors/rockers/cab corners/rear wheel wells for rust. look for any oil leaks as well. if it runs and drives good and its a 6 cyl, its worth it.

Honestly if it is a 6 cyl, and has no or ver little rust... I would jump on it... cause you can always get all necessary parts from the JY to convert it to 4x4, but if it is 4x4 that makes the deal that much sweeter.... I have been keeping my eye out on a good deal on a manche... I will get one eventually!!!

dude i have an 87 comanche at my house, i loved that truck...the only thing i didnt like about it was it was a 2.8 v6, if its the 4.0 i would get it, but if its the 2.8 in my opinion its not worth it

make sure you look over the sub frame very well. a low milage jeep does not mean that its not **** to rust.
the rear part of the subframe around the spring hangers are a bad spot on the MJs.. your normal spots do rust as 89e and others have said..
something elts to look at is the wiring under the hood to see if it looks all factory or someone has spliced wires into it.
an mj is worth $1200 if not rusted out no matter what. 2x4 or 4x4
now here is the importain stuff to look for.
rear sliding window, d44 rear end, gages not lights on the dash, cloth not vinel seats, full console.
look to see if on the rear tailgate it happens to say metric ton. if so it has the d44 rear end, heavydutie springs and coils, biger u-joints, and soem other stuff,
