I had an 01 rcsb 2.3 5 spd 2wd with like 180k miles on it. it was unofficially the worlds fastest stock 4 cyl ranger haha
my friend has a 94 like mine was that has 304k miles on it. factory installed long block motor. he is on his 3rd clutch.

I would love to find a 2.3/5 speed/4x4 first gen for a DD. swap in a 4.10 d30 up front and a 4.10 8.8 out back. keep it as close to stock height as possible (have to completely redo the engine crossmember to keep it low) and run some 235/75s or 30x9.5s on 15x8 4" BS wheels...
can you tell I have put a little thought into this?

It started out as a mud color brown and I spray painted it black. 2wd 4cyl 5 speed. The PO sped the timing up on it so it can roast the tires off of it, got kkicked out of places for doing so haha. I'm running 30"s on it right now, gonna try and make a 3in body lift for it when I have some extra time. I wish it was 4wd but using it as my DD, just having 2wd is okay. But I can still use it as a work truck and still get around off-road pretty well.

I have a friend that used to have a nid 90's 4.0 automatic ranger that he thought was fast. Had a 3" straight pipe, screen removed from the MAF sensor, and nothing else... there is a video of me blowing his doors off in my old 88 thunderbird on Youtube if you search "bird vs ranger". 15 seconds into the video was roughly the 1/4 mile mark. I was pedalling it to try to not embarrass him in front of his wife to badly...
I had a true cold air intake, 65mm throttle body, HO upper intake, B303 cam, stock mustang headers, gutted cats with stock y-pipe/no muffler, dumped in front of axle, Mustang ECU, manual steering, and a badly slipping AOD and 2.73 gears. The car ran roughly 13 second 1/4 miles and hooked like a cat on carpet. When I finally grenaded the AOD (twisted the output shaft in half, yes, it hooked HARD) I swapped in a t5 and eventually 4.10 gears. I was young and dumb when I had this car. Street raced on a daily basis and once held it on the floor for almost 5 miles on a perfectly straight road. When I let off, the tach was reading almost 6000rpms in 5th gear. I will let you do the math on that top speed with a 26" tire
I am now building another one. This one is being built RIGHT and will only be raced on the track.
