Ok since i will be getting the truck closer to the ground, now the next question. Should i channel the truck body over the vic's frame(2"), or should i just spend the $500 and get the custom made 2" drop springs? I will be going with 18x8 wheels up front and 18x10 rear with 255/45/18 front tires and 285/40/18 rear tires.

Before you channel the body over the frame, I would take some measurements as to where the frame and body would end up at the standard ride height of the crown vic. I'd imagine that the truck body is probably close in weight to the crown vic, but would have different body lines and could give the appearance of it already be channeled. You don't want to cut the body up and then find out the floor pans are on the ground. This is going to be an awesome build.

I decided against the channeling, im just going to do lowering springs.

No, I don't lick fish.
Oh this build just got a TON cooler. And definitely nix on channeling that's even more work than the IFS swap you were looking at before. If you had a 2 post lift, it wouldn't be so bad.

I see that you have a custom drive shaft that is going to be made. Instead of getting a drive shaft, would it be possible to make up the difference in length by centering the rear wheels over the axle and cutting 2 inches to the front of the bed and welding it back up.
Just a thought.

Edit: and the reason for not wanting to mod the body is the single cab short bed's are hard to find in as good of shape as mine is in. not to mention i want to put a tonneau cover on the bed so i want to get an out of the box one and not have to mod that as well.

would rather not mod the body shorter than it is. the driveshaft is easy enough to get done by a local company.

Yeah. Way to much to do when you can get a driveshaft made. I had one built for the Gremlin for under $350 by a local shop.

yep, its easier to extend the frame 2" and get a driveshaft then screw up the dimensions of the body. i am just going to get the stock aluminum one extended i think.
