El Caminos

Some of my other vehicles are Chevy El Caminos. I'm just finishing a body-off restoration on a '75. I have a 507 inch Cadillac in that one, with a Currie 9 inch Ford rear, and TH400 trans.

The next project is an '87 El Camino, which is still factory stock. I may put that one on the rotisserie also, & get the body off the frame & & get the under-body & frame sand blasted. I intend to keep this one in stock form. It's well equipped, with power windows, locks posi rear end, cruise, and a 2004R OD transmission among other items.

It's all fun I tell ya !:)

Pics? My brother had an 82 with an ls swap, power windows, true duals, air shocks in the rear... I'm still mad at him for selling it

I see that some of the folks on the El Camino Central forum have done the LS engine mod. I guess those engines are capable of some serious power..

This '87 isn't going to get modified. I don't have the time on this one. Would like to have it run good though... I'll ask the guys at Comp Cams about a computer type cam, to maybe give the 305 a little more zip...

This is the '75, before the new wheels & tires went on....

My wife has been nudging me about getting a Camino for a couple years now. I just don't think we have the budget to do the Jeep and a Camino restoration. The ones that are already built are way outside my price range, so I'd be looking at getting one that needs a lot of TLC and managing most of that work myself.

The other issue is kids.....we have 4 of them, and the local law tend to frown if you have more people in the truck bed than you do sitting in the cab. I told her maybe when the 3 oldest are gone, and we just have the nephew left. I love them and would love to do one up proper!

This '75 is the 4th one I've had, of that generation. I did buy a new one in '77, but over the years the Michigan cancer ate it up, and then a guy not too far from me had this '75 body....so, I was off & running with it !!:)

The '87 will be a new thing to me, being a G body. Only other G body I ever had was a black 1984 Buick Regal Limited, which was a year old then, and a really nice car....

got one...if you look hard enough you can see the jeep in one of the pics :D

1972 factory ss 82k miles. originally gold with white stripes and a white vinyl top. 350/350 with 12 bolt rear, bench seat, column shift, clock ordered in place of tach, air conditioning truck. in the family since 6k miles and/or 1973. now it is sporting a ls1/4l60e, 433 gear, 4400 stall, rear disc conversion, etc. disregard the air intake, it was still in the planning stages hence the flex hose.

I'm not crazy about the body style, but the truck has been around for awhile and won't be leaving any time soon. there are roughly 8 lsx swap experiences into that vehicle. and thanks. a good friend of mine is all but responsible for the repinned harness and wire tucking. every bit of it is/was done right and it shows. we've been around this stuff for awhile. the truck got a panel resto in 87 and basically a body off resto in 09. it's got a lot of money and even more time in it. trying to convince dad those wheels have to go, but old guys...
