Dodge Dakota battery replacement?

My brother has a 07 Dodge Dakota that he recently had the battery replaced by auto zone. After the battery replacement he said the battery would go dead if he let it sit for a couple days. He took it to a mechanic that told him if you unhook the battery you have to reset the computer or some control module will stay on and drain the battery. Has anyone ever heard of this? I know on some newer BMW and Mercedes you have to reprogram the computer when you change the battery but I have never heard this on a dodge.

I think when you unhook a battery and then reconnect it that you have to let it run for 10 minutes or so and it relearns things through sensors. I would just check the owners manual and it will say what to do when changing the battery. As far as the battery dying that would have to be some lights or maybe he has a sound system. Something is staying on in the truck that drains the battery.
