Desert Customs
 

I have to say that when I was told I was getting stationed in the desert I wasn't exactly the happiest about it. It's pretty hard on vehicles being out here and this thread is a little bit of a Showcase of what I'm doing to some of my cars at work in order to keep them functional in the harsh Terrain.

The first one I have to show off is this 2010 Chevy HHR. Our facilities manager was driving it and didn't see a big rock in the road and completely destroyed the transmission pan. I told him it wasn't a big deal and that I could fix the t- pan. While I was down there I decided what the hay I'll just add some skid plates and trim the front bumper for him.

Full front coverage skid plates made from 1/16 steel scrap. Covers the front oil cooler and radiator then the lower one covers the bottom of the engine crankcase and the transmission pan

Rattle can paint job. It had some pretty bad drips in it but what can I say the paint was 7 years old

Thats awesome dude! Good call on beefing stuff up as you fix it

Sadly I still don't know how to weld but I've made a promise to myself that I will start learning to fabricate my own custom stuff. Kind of a New Year's resolution I guess. Benefits of working and a junkyard is my junk yard vehicles that do run I can do what I please with within reason
