Deep cycle Battery charge help!

The following question is not on a Cherokee but I decided to post here as I have always found all the answer I needed for my XJ on the post here! Hopefully you guys will be able to share some of your knowledge with me today!

My friend bought a camperized E150. all is good except for the aux batt system. There is a voltage sensitive sensor that I consider shot (with car running, I read 14.6v from main battery neg post to main battery side of VSR. And 11.6v from main batt neg post to aux batt of VSR. same reading as aux batt alone.)

Now the system.
Alernator: 130 amp
from main batt + ; 4awg ; 60 amp fuse ; ''faulty'' 140 amp VSR ; 12' of 4awg ; 100 amp fuse ; aux batt +

Deep cycle is: AGM 105 Ah

I am trying to help her get her system working again at the lowest cost while being safe! My plan is to get rid of VSR and install a switch instead. the wire runs close to the steering whel so I would set it there and she'll just need to not forget to turn it on/off.

Now for the litlle I have, deep cycle battery, even 60 amp of charging is way too many. Would just changing all fuse to 30 amps and installing a 35 amps switch be a good idea? or do I need a regulator to prevent the alternotor to dump all of its amps to the aux battery?
