Coilover brackets.
Are there any brackets/mounts out there to attach coilovers on a d30? Or will it have to be a custom piece? Did a bit of googling but to no avail.
Thinking it will have to be custom but thought I'd post up and see if anyone knows of any. |
You want to put coilovers on a Dana 30? I believe your priorities are slightly out of align.
Companies like RuffStuff, Barnes4wd and Liquid Iron industries sell C/O mount tabs. Of course, they'll be a custom installed afair. You have some reading to do. |
What's wrong with coilovers on a d30?
Easier than notching my frame for coil springs. |

Sorry, guess my signature isn't filled out on this forum yet. My bad. Sorry for confusion.
I'm swapping a 30 into my ranger. |
I do believe you're in the wrong section for that question then, as its not a modified xj question....... Lol

I'm swapping a 30 into my ranger. I don't think I'd be making the effort to swap a Dana 30 in but if that's what you must do I stand by my original comment. Find something like this LCA/Coilover mount: http://www.clavicle3.com/axle-link-coilover-mount.html I'd certainly be looking at a Dana 44 at the least. Modifying a Dana 30 that much is a waste of money, IMO.

A 44 would cost way more. For a not much stronger axle.
Unless I go with a ford d44. In which case it would be a lot more $$ I only will run 35's plenty of the local folks run this combo without issue. |

Spent about $900 on the axle before it would hold up to 35's. I'd still break shafts every other time I went out. Then I built a Waggoneer Dana 44. Ended up spending about $1100 and haven't broken it yet on the same 35's. If you just use it to drive around on dirt roads then I'm sure it'll be fine. Got a picture of your truck? I have an 03 FX4 w/ leveling kit and 31's. lol |
Well buddy of mine has yet to break his. He didn't n break his stock low pinion either.
I'm not worried. We don't have hard core trails where I live. And in Canada its hard enough finding a 44, let alone for a good price. It would be way more than 1100 to build one. Probably more than half that to buy it in the first place. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...93e45c942c.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...6f6e57bdd0.jpg ^ rear flex limited by the stock shocks. Have new ones coming. Running Chevy 64" leafs. |

Heck it was hard enough to find a complete d30 for under $300 lol.
I'm not worried about running a 30. It won't see much trail use for a few years anyways as I'm am good 3 hours from anywhere worth going to. Just want to do a solid axle because its different than the **** IFS. A When I decide to go bigger tires and start wheeling more often I'll just right to 60's. And at that point it will be a lot easier to swap since then truck will already be set up for a solid axle. |
Have you thought about buying a 97 or older ranger? Those years are super easy to sas vs the 98 up years. The older ones you can almost bolt in a early bronco dana 44.
|
Never once in crossed my mind. Never will. I already own this truck, I've already spent two years making it my own, I'm not going to get rid of it for an older one because its easier.
If I was to sell it I'd just get a jeep. But I want something different. Something that's my own. |
