Ok so im kinda confused...i have a 76 Buick skylark that i am derbying...and i just bought a 92 Chevy 350 that im converting to a carburator...But it needs a transmission...do i just get a regular chevy tranny or do i have to get a BOP tranny? O and if anyone happens to know exactly what i need to do the EFI to Carb swap would be appreciated...i know i need an intake, carb, and hei advance curve kit...anything else?

Buick 350 needs a buick trans, or B.O.P. (buick, olds, pontiac)trans I am not too keen on the engines buick used but some of them used chevy 350's so you might be in luck. If the buick 350 looks just like the chevy 350 then you are ok. The "buick" 350 will look bigger than a chevy 350 and quickest way to tell is where the distributor is B.O.P.= dist in front, Chevy= dist in back.
Also there are a few B.O.P. transmissions out there that had the multi pattern on the bell housing for either B.O.P. or chevy engines. If you happen to have the universal bell housing then you are in luck.
To carb the EFI, there are adapters to bolt a carb to TBI intake, and there are intakes to bolt to the TBI cylinder heads too. Keep in mind the '92 cylinder heads are not like the old school small block heads, many call them EFI or TBI heads. The innerds are basically the same but where the intake bolts to the head is different ( center intake bolts straight up/down instead of slanted) You can actually hog out the holes a little bit on an old school intake to make it fit on the newer heads too.

Just like he said,. if it is actually a buick 350, than you will need a chevy trans. some did come with a chevy engine though. Look to see where the distributer is and make sure. If its in the front, your gonna need a chevy trans.

I have a Chevy engine out of a 92 Chevy pickup....That was a dumb question above, obviously a chevy tranny will bolt up to a chevy engine...what i meant to ask is...If i get the chevy trans bolted up the 92 chevy engine, will it all go into the car as should? My main concern is will the chevy trans mount up to the buick crossmember or will i have to fab up a mount...O and also will i need a short or long tail shaft tranny so my stock driveshaft will work without modification?

aaaahhh, I got ya. yeah trans is the same except bell housing bolt pattern so it will fit the car just the same. I forget on the motor mounts, they might not be the same. but you should be able to pick up the correct mounts for that engine in that body style car pretty easy.

mounts are the same on the 350 rocket and 4bolt main chevy blocks, this i know. not sure for late modle but id bet theyre the same. trans wil fit fine too. no tailshaft swap needed.
youll have to buy an intake that fits the heads. an older one wont fit. they sell carburated manifolds for the efi engines though...
dont forget the fuel pessure for carburators needs to be waay lower that the efi's.

Didnt read all the posts but thought Id mention an easy way to spot a BOP transmission.
The bellhousing looks like the top center area is dipped in. Where the cheby trans doesnt.
