I just picked up a 2006 Honda CBR 600RR a couple weeks back and im doing a full tune up on it but dont know squat about bikes Ive worked on all types of cars/trucks forever but never a bike can anyone explain how to do a basic tune up on these and where everything is on it. Ill post pics of it later.

Plugs. Flush brake fluid if you feel energetic. Oil change should be obvious.

Pretty simple machine for tune ups. You can take a look at brake pads and tires.

pretty much as said, imagine everything you would do with a car and its the same, just a BIT MORE FIDIGITY

for a full tune up im sure its easiest to remove most ove the fairing, tank side pannels etc.
just be really carefull with the plastics there really easy to break and damn expensive to replace.

yea but for the oil change anyone know where everything is? i was told the oil filter was a PITA

just in the front of the engine under the down pipes, screw off canister i think. drain plug is under neath, not sure if the cbr 6 has 2??

If you take off the right side plastics (ifsitting on the bike) there is a slick hidden compartment.

Make sure you use the motorcycle oil for wet clutches.

Synthetic is the only way to go with Motorcycles! I use Mobil racing 4t Only time you should use traditional is on Harley or V-twin applications, then I run Diesel Oil... Should Be a Car type Oil filter under The Headers on the front of bike, You have to pull the whole front lower fairings and as far as "Tune Up" Goes for plugs you have to Pull the fuel tank. Maybe it was just traditional synthetic your not suppose to use.

I know one of them should not be used with wet clutches as it causes the plates to slip or causes the friction surfaces to sometimes come unbound. Basically some of the clutch packs can come apart.

Close But AS long as it doesnt have Friction Modifiers, "you Can use it" I wouldn't in ANY of My personal Bikes! Motul, Mobil or Amsoil are your best Bets/ Choices... I've never Run anything but Mobil1! in ANY of my Bike That aren't V-Twin Style Motors! The V-Twin Has The Least amount of miles of any of My 2 Wheelers, AND the most Problems! Been Daily Riding Bikes for Just short of 4Years as of Feb, 14 This year! LOL Yes my V-Day present to myself was 2 Jeep Cherokees! haha

What Color Scheme You Have? I used to have the 06 Orange&black Tribal Style! Great Bikes, VERY TOUGH!
