Buick Park Ave - Battery light is on
I have to admit Im no electrical engineer, aside from shocking myself with the occasional 110 socket I rarely mess with the stuff.
So here it goes, Im looking at a '92 Buick Park Ave. It has the GM 3.8 V6, great little engine, with 80k miles. The battery light is on and the volt gauge is reading about 10v. The car will start and run with no issues. The idle is a little off due to the low volt output of what I think is a bad alternator. Im taking the alternator into Orielly's tomorrow to have it bench tested. My question; is there anything else I should look at? Would a bad battery trigger the volt lamp? Thanks |
alt assy bad. regulator is internal. make sure u have voltage to main single connection at rear of unit. replace alt assy all should be goood!!!:D

As a tech, I absolutely love the 3.8. One of the easiest things in the world to work on, and very reliable.
