91 Wrangler Renegade
I am considering a new Jeep for my garage and am looking at a 91 Wrangler Renegade. It all sounds good, 112k miles, A/C, 5 speed manual transmission, hard top and doors.
Only concern is when I talked to the seller he said two things:
1. Tilt steering wheel is a little loose
2. Trans fluid was changed with 90 weight gear oil which makes shifting harder until warmed up.
My questions are, what can cause a loose tilt steering wheel and does the gear oil issue make sense??
Any and all help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

the steering column in a common problem. there are three torx bolts on the inside iof the column that come loose over time. those just need tightened. i usually put locktite on to ensure it wont happen again.
on the tranny, it sounds like he was having some grinding issues and tried to fix with a heavy weight gear oil.......if you buy it, you will prob be replacing or rebuilding the tranny. the ax-15 is supposed to run 75-90w, but there are different types. you should run gl-3 in an ax-15. the gl-5 has too much zinc and it eats the brass syncros. chrysler even put out a few t.s.b.'s about it. (technical service bulletin)
