78 GMC k25 Lift
Alright ladies and gentlemen a thread on lifting my 1978 GMC K25. A little about the truck....Its not pretty and its not fancy purchased it for $1600 and feel like a got a decent deal on a truck that5 was inspected, running, driving 4x4. Transmission shifts good, motor runs good (only 120K on it owner said motor had never been opened up)
78 GMC K25 3/4 ton
5.7L 350
Th400
14FF rear - d44 front
Thats about it
I called up rough country spoke with Kirk he was very helpful
ordered a 6" suspension lift with 52 in rear springs. Ordered on monday came in on thur. they have very good shipping. I have previously bought from them a 4in lift for my 98 tj and was very satisified with the ride quality and you cant beat the price. This truck is not a daily driver just a beach toy.
With all that said I will post pics before and after I am very satisified with the lift. I also purchased the dual steering stabilizer kit, t-case drop and sway bar drop bracket through rough country.
on to the pics....

Drive shaft I had to take off have an issue with the slip part idk if its a bearing or what but its worn out has lots of play... still need to drop tcase, do sway bar and im replacing all new tie rods and ends so stabilizers will go on after this. then who knows maybe my zz4 crate motor?? Tires are Ground hawgs 38.5x16.5 rim bias ply brand new says they should have measured around 37.2" inches tall by 13.7" wide prolly about 40% tread I will prolly be putting no more than 5K miles a year on it if that, just a 20 mile drive to the beach thank for checking out my truck, I will be posting more when the rest of the accesories go on and the final product more or less is done

Nice looking truck. I had a very similar truck, 79 chevy K20.
One note, you do not have a 12 bolt front axle. There is no such thing as a GM 12 bolt front, only 12 bolt rear axles, unless it is custom. You have a Dana 44 unless it was swapped out. They are commonly referred to as a HD Dana 44 or Big knuckle Dana 44. Later 3/4 GMs had a GM Corporate 10 bolt HD. Unless you got lucky and someone swapped in a Dana 60.
