A K5 frame may be a better choice. They are strong and anything can be made to fit one.
Some guy here in town has a Camaro on a lifted K5 frame on 35s, its hilarious looking.

You do understand the size of said project, correct? Depending on how wide your Aggies are I would step up to duece and a halves. Or a 14/14 with rockwell outers. Check out pirate 4x4. Just don't ask a question like this lol

Sounds like you want to build this..

My buddy owned it, unfortunatly he passed away a few years back. It was a fullsize frame with 454/rocks and tractors. Google search S10ontractors..

A stock scout frame with a 454 and rockies will twist up like a pretzel. If you are capable of a project like this you should just make your own.

The S10 frame would probably be the stronger part of that build, 1-tons even with alloy shafts would be pushing it on strength on that big of a tire and power. I guess some of it might depend on what you are building the truck for, driving style and terrain. 1-tons can be expensive to buy, you probably only want to look for the kingpin style, not ball joint or CAD setups, Maybe look into some rockwells but they can be expensive to purchase too and setup. Biggest money spent on rockwells would be brakes (if done right) and lockers (if bought not welded), 1-tons would be lockers and alloy shafts.

I would not consider anything less than a mildly build TH400 and NP205 for geartrain, or step it up from there.

i was gonna do a th400 with a 350.. but i wanted to bump the intensity up.... lol.. i was planning on going the king pin route... its gonna end up being a mud machine.. rockwells r wayyy outta the price range... yes i know all of this will be expensive and time intensive but is what i want.... my buddy has a chevy on 49s with the same axles... i would absolutly love to get some 2.5 tons but that will only happen if i get lucky to score a dam good deal on em...

I would say to get a 400 and destroke it... but if you're running 1 tons i doubt they'll hold up to the power with the size tire you're looking at. IF you do end up going to rockwells i'd say get a 400 block and make a 377 out of it, will give you PLENTY of power to turn them tires as fast as you'd like. But expect to put a little money into the engine if you want it to last...

One tons won't hold up to them heavy 53's!!! Best bet is a different frame or build one and rocks. You CAN do rocks for just as much as them tons as well you can find a steering rock for the price of a king pin 60 front and since its going to be a wheeling rig you can build a cheap and easy pinion brake setup.

Pinion brake is a great idea, to many disc conversions with no provisions for a parking brake. That disc break with the internal drum parking break is the stupidest piece of junk idea i have ever seen. Late 70's Cadillac Eldorado rear disc brake calipers had a mechanical arm for a cable to apply a disc parking brake. My fathers 2010 Nissan Frontier pickup has rear disc with a simple setup to use the same disc as a parking brake.
Sorry about the brake rant, I get worked up when I see something simple made complicated.

I went to high school with a kid that drove a 67 Corvette, lifted on a 4X4 frame, I think it was on 31's he thought it was cool, but most of us thought it was a waste of a nice Vette! inside was sharp, & that was back in the early 1980's
