3 year old tires - yes or no?
Would you use tires that are 3 years old but never mounted, and have been stored indoors? I found a set of 4 with no blemishes or cracks that i can see. They are dated 3415 (34th week of 2015, so August 17-23 of 2015). Most i talked to said 5 years is the max for an unused tire. Any older than that and they should be recycled or used as spares only. And after 10 years, most shops wont touch it, even if it was never mounted, unless its going to the recycler. How old is too old for you?

I'd use them without even thinking twice. That's just me though.

Pinch/fold the sidewalls to see if any cracks open up. Do the same between tread.

I think it would depend how they were stored. stacked up on their sides for 3 years could cause some warping that may never balance out.
other than that i wouldnt hesitate if its a good deal |
5 yrs would be the max for me. I would also try to "pinch" or bend the sidewall to check for cracking.
