2006 Liberty Issues

So my neighbor has an 3.7L 06 Libby that has about 115K on it. I do light work on it when she needs it, brakes, radiator, belts etc. She called me yesterday to come check on it and it's running strange and I'm sort of stumped. It started fine cold in 28 degree weather but was knocking slightly between 800-1500 RPMs. After it fot to operating temp the noise went away completely. I took it for a 5 mile drive ending at a gas station where I put a few gallons in. When I attempted to start it it wouldn't fire. After 3 tries and some pedal feathering it fired up but was knocking again and getting the almost stall shimmys from the motor. I drove it back to her house and it now will not start and stay running without holding the pedal or the throttle body open. Oil is good, oil and fuel pressure is good, no CEL whatsoever, battery, belt, alternator are all new

Any ideas?

It sounds like the timing belt or timing chain has jumped .
