2005 wrangler

Hey I'm thinking about buying a 2005 wrangler sport with a 4.0l manual. I wanted to know what you guys have gotten for mpg. I've heard it get 13 to 17 and heard it gets 20 to 24. so what do you guys get? Thanks

16 on a good day. Figure the same as your XJ.

My gp 04 wrangler with an inline 4 5 speed gets 19.

My 97 TJ got around 12 in town and maybe around 16 on the highway... course it had sat for three years and had a host of issues. Buddy who has a YJ with the 4 banger in it would get atleast 16 around town... then he lifted it and that ended. :-)

I can't find any wrangler with the inline 4. Only the 6.

My dad's 4.0 5 speed 98 with 3.73's gets between 18-22

03 TJX manual, 3.07 gears, 235/75-15s got 19-21 average.

Now, 35.5x10.8s on 3.73 gears is not very fuel efficient. I want to regear to 4.88s eventually.... about 12.

why do people want 4 cylinders? wouldnt the 6 get better mileage because it can pull the jeep better?

Meh, from what I've seen and heard mileage is a toss-up. The 4.0 is a clear winner in power. The only real differences are price (2.5's are pretty solid engines and sell for cheaper) and I had an ex YJ guy tell me once that he liked his because it was so much lighter (Dunno if there's any truth to that at all)
