Anyone? I need to get this fixed really fast.

The lock mechanism is made from cheap plastic, you need a new latch assembly from the dealer.

If its like anything else from a dealer there goes a weeks pay...LOL. Thanks for the info thats what i figured I would have to do just wanted to make sure before I went out there and made it worse.

We used to have a cavalier. Just keep messing with it and oil it with WD. I actually bent the trunk trying to get the damn thing to latch shut. And i never opened it again after it happened a few random times. Nothing was broken with the latch....the stupid thing just didnt latch:2guns:

Well I used to have an '03 Sunfire with the exact same problem after a rear collision. We had someone inside the trunk eyeballing the latch while we adjusted torque rods, assembly and the striker itself, using some lithium lube. Eventually we just gave up on the bent up assembly and bought one used from the junkyard. It's sort of a hard thing to help you with without actually being there...Since the Sunfire/Cavalier are pretty much the exact same vehicle, I can scan off the page from the Hayne's manual for you if you want
