2001 Cherokee’s transmission
i recently bought a 2001 Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0L automatic transmission in 2WD, my transmission started to pitch a loud whistling noise during first gear speed up more than it normally had and I heard a small knock, when I pulled into the house when I threw it in reverse it didn’t move I had to give it a little gas and it jumped and started to roll and once I put it in drive again it felt a little loss of power and sounded a little rough. Currently have a kid coming in 3 weeks and was not exspecting this issue, I’m going to go to my mechanic tommorow morning if she’ll make it up there and see what it could be. Any thoughts on what it could be guys.

Check for codes, even if the CEL is not on. Maybe there will be a code, but maybe there wont. Still worth a look. Check the fluid level and condition also. Maybe even adjust the transmission cable at the throttle body.
