Dont wanna do that again and burn the car down. Just wanna fix the bad wire. Was wondering if theres more then just melted wire I should be looking for.

No melted wires all the connectors are good not sure where the smoke is coming from. I can smell it but cant find it. Iv taken apart the dash and removed the rigged head unit still no luck. Seems to only happen with the headlights being on. So I removed the toggle switch but not sure what to do about getting the headlights to work again.

Smoke started again tonight I even removed the head lights and wired my hellas up to serve as lights. Smoke came out of the defrost vents up front. Time to rip the entire dash out now.

Sooooooo.........joined a Celica forum yet? Seems like now might be a good time,hopefully its a common problem and you'll get a swift response

Havent yet but I have made a new wiring harness for the lighting system. New relays and 14ga wire seems to have fixed the issue.
