Flaring new brake lines

2 Attachment(s)
Purchased a 4.5in lift kit. With this kit came new front brake lines that are longer for flex. My jeep is 25 years old now so the brake lines were not coming off with out breaking. Rounded out the 3/8 fitting trying to loosen. Vise grips just stares twisting the hard line so with the i control where it breaks by cutting it.

I picked up a 20 dollar double flaring tool kit at O'reillys and a couple of short brake lines to practice on.

First i practiced then i went and cut off the old lines with my dremel. You nees to get a clean cut so don't use dykes. Tube cutter or dremel or what ever else will give you a clean cut.

I had to make two cuts first one was a little crooked!

Attach brace in 3/16 area. Tighten the bolt to clamp line in place. You have to measure the depth with the attachments.

Attachment 132036

The depth is determined by the bottom base part.

Once you have the depth down and the line clamped secure. Put the 3/16 attachment in the hole and start flaring it in. Thos gives you the rolled affect.

Next just remove the small attachment. Keep the line clamped and start flaring it in again this will flare it out to hold the fitting on.

My line got a lil bent with the torque i was putting on the line and the fitting would not slide down. I took a small punch stuck it in the hole and was able to bend the line straight pretty easily.
