Do you have a cable or hydrolic tranny?

Is it not going into gear or not moving when you put it in gear?
Working on the rear end seal will not stop it from going in gear.

There is transmission fluid in the tranny right? If there isn't that's exactly what it will do.

disconnect the driveshaft form the rear and try to turn the rear gears. Did the pinion nut come loose? you did torque it back down didn't you? Will it roll in neutral?
