Default WK2 Full Size Spare Tire Question

What is the maximum size tire that will fit in the cargo compartment below the load floor of a 2014 WK2 Grand Cherokee? Currently, I have the so-called "full-size" donut spare tire that's only meant for temporary use (and man does it look terrible on the Jeep). I want to put in a full size spare tire and wheel in place of the compact tire and wheel. My factory tires are 265/50R20 Goodyear Fortera HL's with 20" wheels.

Any help would be appreciated!

Take one of your current tires off and try the fit in the well. It's supposed to fit a standard size tire that's deflated. I tried one of mine in my 2000 WJ and it just fits with no room to "spare." The cover actually sits on the tire and is about 1/8" higher, but then again, I've got the factory oversized option on it. 245/70R16.

My WK2 has a 20"x8" polished aluminum wheel, and 265/50R20 Goodyear Fortera HL tires. I don't believe that's going to fit. I know any WJ stock tire will fit into its spare tire well, as the Overlands of that generation came with the matching chrome spare wheel. I had a loaner WK2 Laredo E from the dealership once, and it had a fullsize 17" with the 245/65R17 tire and 17" steel spare wheel with the yellow label on it, but that's a base model WK2, NOT one with 18" or 20" wheels and tires. On our old WJ, we had 245/70R16's with the fullsize matching spare, and it fit, but then again, they changed the spare tire mounting location with every redesign and new generation (ZJ's had it mounted to the driver's side cargo panel, WJ's had it mounted underneath the cargo floor, WK's had it mounted underneath the vehicle with a "winch" type mechanism to lower it down to the ground, and WK2's have it, once again, mounted underneath the cargo floor, with styrofoam cargo blocks on each side of it to keep it in place with the "donut" spare. Hopefully a WK2 owner will be able to comment on this.
